I am not a parent but have many nephews and nieces (my two closest friends children). The oldest niece is about to turn 13 and has started to explore other religions then that of her parents. My friend's husband does not approve of my path, but my niece has asked me about it. Knowing her father would not be happy if I handed over books and things, should I just walk away from the situation hoping she finds her answers or should I try to answer them the best I can? I have been friends with her mom for 25 years, and do not want to cause trouble between anyone.

Ah...what a pickle, no doubt about it! I would personally answer the questions, t always end with...respect your mom and dad's wishes.
It's hard to be in the middle of a situation such as this, especially with a parent who is fearful of our ways, but to cause the least amount of trouble and drama, always let the child know that you are available to answer questions, but to honor their parent's wishes as long as they live with them.
