			<title>Tis the Season</title>
			<link>http://city-witch.com/content/view/54/</link>
			<description>
It's is that most magical time of the year....YULETIDE!

And even though the retail industry is trying to help everyone bring in 2008 in a very broke fashion, there are ways to give meaningful seasonal gifts that will not break the bank.

Making Yuletide incenses, oils and potpourri are an economical and magical way to not only fill your house with the essence of the season and some wonderful smells, your favorite witch or pagan will really appreciate receiving a wonderful gift of this nature (I know I would).

Heck, even muggles appreciate the wonderful smells of the season to waft through their house via a nice potpourri or incense!

I am going to be making plenty of these gifts for all my friends who made it to the good list this year! Enjoy!

How To Make Yule Incense

3 PARTS LAVENDER BUDS
3 PARTS CLOVES
3 PARTS CINNAMON
4 PARTS ORRIS ROOT
4 PARTS STORAX
3 PARTS EUCALYPTUS
3 PARTS ROSE
7 PARTS CEDAR WOOD

Grind herbs to a powder before mixing together. Then add green dye till
light green, not too dark.

Yule Incense

2 parts Frankincense
2 parts Pine needles or resin
1 part Cedar
1 part Juniper berries

Mix and smolder on Yule or during the winter months to cleanse the
home and to attune with the forces of nature amid the cold days and nights.

We are now celebrating the full rise of our November or 'Full Beaver or Snow Moon
(from the beavers busy building their winter homes). Also, Full
Frost Moon.

Tonight 's esbat, being just two days after Thansgiving, may be a good time to incorporate gratitude and thankfulness into any rituals you perform.

For those new to the path, here is a simple Full Moon Rite created by the beloved Scott Cunningham:

Perform this ritual at
night in view of the Full Moon if possible. If not, fill a cauldron
with water and place a piece of silver in it.

Cast the circle and invoke
the Goddess and God and anyone else you chose to invoke.

Gaze at the moon or your
moon in your cauldron. Feel its cool Goddess energy
wash you with power and love. Say these words.

Wondrous Lady of the
Moon
You who greets the dark with silvered kisses
Mistress of the night and all magicks,
who rides the clouds in blackened skies
and spills light upon cold Earth.
Oh Lunar Goddess
Crescent one
Shadow maker and shadow breaker,
Revealer of mysteries past and present,
Puller of seas and ruler of women
All-wise Lunar Mother
I greet your celestial jewel
at the waxing of its powers
with a rite in Your honor
I pray by the moon
I pray by the moon
I pray by the moon

Continue chanting I
pray by the moon while visualizing the goddess.

Now is the time to work
magick or meditation. Crystal scrying is particularly recommended
(you can use the silver in the cauldron for this).

Enjoy a simple feast.
Thank the Goddess and God and release the circle.

			<title>Have A Happy ...</title>

Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate! I don't really becaue the traditional meaning is to me, celebrating the eventual disenfranchising of an entire race and culture of people, not to mention the near extinction of an entire species of animal (turkey), and I am so thakful every day, I don't need to indulge myself in gluttony and family dysfunction to prove it. But I will be hosting a special holiday podcast to mark the occasion later today.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING , Y'ALL!

			<title>Wishing Upon A Star</title>
			<link>http://city-witch.com/content/view/45/</link>
			<description>Your Birthday Star:

Your birthday star is in the constellation Reticulum. It has the name &amp;zeta;2 (Zeta2) Reticuli in Johann Bayer's Uranometria star catalog. It is called NS 0318-6230 A in the NStars (http://nstars.arc.nasa.gov/index.cfm) database.

It has visual magnitude 5.24 meaning that
you could just see this star with the naked eye under the best viewing conditions.
It is marked in the center of this star chart, at celestial coordinates (J2000 equinox):

			Right ascension

			3:18:12.8

			Declinati

			-62:30:

This star is 39.4 light years away,
which means that the light we see from it today set off on its journey at
about the same time that you were born. Come back in a month or two and your
birthday star may change, as the light from more distant stars reaches
Earth. Click here to find your birthday star (http://outreach.jach.hawaii.edu/birthstars/index.html)

			<description>
As heard on the latest episode of that amazing can't-miss-an-episode show, House (http://www.fox.com/house/) ....

Dr. Wilson: He didn't tell you... well, it's his right, records were sealed.
Personally, I think he was just tapping his foot and reaching for the
toilet paper. Obviously, it was a witch hunt.
Interviewer: You think they singled him out?
Dr. Wilson: No, literally, a witch hunt. Dr. House is a practicing Wiccan. Beautiful religion, very caring...

We are so mainstream, we got a positive mention on a prime-time show on Faux (Fox)...we're moving on up, y'all...moving on up....to a deluxe apartment...in the skkk---yyyy-yyyy....

			<title>On This Day We Honor...</title>
			<link>http://city-witch.com/content/view/43/</link>
			<description>
I want to take a moment to thank all pagan veterans, old, new, from WWI to Iraq. I also want to thank Robeta Stewart, as a veteran of a war of another sort. She fought to ensure that we would all now have a headstome and plaque that would truly represent us, and enable all Americans to know that pagans are not only among them, but they serve, and some make the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

I want to thank my wondeful husband, a proud lifelong Pagan, a staunch and committed pagan who spent six horrible years in active duty service for the Army and 15 months in the current Iraqi conflict. My husband is merely one of the faces of of today's pagan military.

I wish to thank all of those, whatever faith, or non faith -- and there have been so many. So many Christians, Jews, Muslims, Pagan, Agnostics and Atheists. So many people of every color, sexual orientation, culture, faith, belief, and gender. So many who have answered the call of defense of their country. And, to them, it never mattered what their true identity. They all gathered and blended and buried and released those labels to add yet another: warrior.

Be they soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines or Coast Guardsmen -- they secured our borders, offered aid to those in need, provided a fresh start for those who needed it. They defended us sight unseen, and filled the need for warriors, and elected to defend those of us who could not defend ourselves.

I want to thank the National Guardsmen and Reservists who have been treated shamefully in this lateslt conflict. There answer to the call has cause most of them their livelihoods, their families, their sanity and, for so many -- their lives.

And I honor those who fight the war within the war: those who fight the war for those who have fallen and are unable to any longer fight. Those who stand in Congrssional hearings, VA hearings and fight though miles and years of beauratic red tape to ensure that every person who has given the ultimate sacrifice is properly represented.

I, too, am a Pagan veteran. I served in the Desert Storm conflict -- and I did while managing to be Black, female and pagan. But had I died in that conflict at that time, I would not have been properly represented during that time. Thanks to Roberta Stewart, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Stewart_(soldier)) Selena Fox of Circle Sanctuary (http://www.circlesanctuary.org/) and so many others, so many others, it will no longer be a worry for those who come after me.

Please, thank a Pagan soldier for their voluntary service. Thank a Christian soldier. Thank a Jewish, Muslim, Agnostic, or Atheist solider. More than likely, they are either now a war veteran, or will be very soon. No matter what your politics. ethics or beliefs -- thanks a member of the modern military today and any time you see one.

We deserve it.

			<title>More Birthday Fun</title>
			<link>http://city-witch.com/content/view/40/</link>
			<description>
My workmates gifted me with lucky bamboo, jewelry and a cake today. Good times. My group of Christian friends (yes, I have Christian friends that I hang with -- very cool people and just because our paths are different doesn't mean anything. I am mature and strong enough in my faith to rool with them and still be a wonderful witch. Hating Christians is NOT cool. I don't need to lift myself up by putting other down. Can't we all just get along?)

These cool people bought me a BIKE. Pretty cute pink number so I can go on rides together. Neat! I cannot wait to try it, though I am sure it's been over twenty years since I last rode...

All in all, 39 is starting out juuuuuuuuuuuuuuust fine....

			<link>http://city-witch.com/content/view/38/</link>
			<description>
This is my birthday weekend, as my birthday is November 4, 2007. I will be a GLORIOUS 39 years old!

Today I:

Went to Podcamp (http:www.podcampaz.org)

Paid all my Bills

Visited my fave witchy shops Alpha Book Store (http://www.witchvox.com/vn/vn_detail/dt_sh.html?a=usaz id=4564) , Fantasia (http://www.witchvox.com/vn/vn_detail/dt_sh.html?a=usaz id=5801) , and Northern Winds (http://thenorthernwinds.com/)

I received from the Geek (aka husband) a new deck of Tarot cards (Hanson-Roberts), two different necklaces, a bouquet of flowers and some other great things

Had dinner at R (http://www.rustlersrooste.com/)ustler's Rooste (http://www.rustlersrooste.com/)

Had an impromptu dance with my husband to some kick-ass country music

Drank copious amounts of brandy and wine

			<title>(Stupid) Witch In The City</title>
			<link>http://city-witch.com/content/view/37/</link>
			<description>

I hope every one had a very blessed and happy Samhain. Mine was quiet, spent with those I love on this side of the veil, honoring those on the other side. My Great Geek (aka the hubby) and I also did some major divination for the upcoming year.

All seemed well October 31, 2007 for Phoenix, AZ...

But I speak too soon...

Here in Phoenix, e got a 'special' visit from a 'witch' (term used VERY loosely) named 'Magickal Marrisa' (insert eyeroll and snort here) from Las Vegas (now I know why it is called Sin City -- because it is a sin and a shame that woman was released beyond the boundaries of her home) to...

Come and put a 'good' CURSE on Maricopa County Sherriff, Joe Arapio (http://www.mcso.org/) !!!! (And now everyone say it with me...WTF?!??!). Old girl brought her 'voodoo doll' complete with pins and the whole bit...

Now don't get me wrong -- it's not like ol' Crazy Joe (http://www.prisonplanet.com/archives/arpaio/index.htm) didn't have it coming...but did this nonsense require a press conference?

And if you ever wonder why people still consider Pagans and Witches to be among the 'fringe contingent,' well, we can thank Marissa and her ilk. Thanks to them and the media attention they always seem to garner, we will always be considered 'just this side of crazy'...

THANKS, Marissa!

Please read the foolishness here (http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/local/articles/1101witch1101.html) ...and again say it with me...

WTF?!?!?!

Please meet the newest love of my life -- Pax Lucky (http://www.dogster.com/dogs/630812) . We adopted him from the Maricopa County Animal Control Care Center (http://www.maricopa.gov/pets/) , aka THA DOGG POUND. We are completely committed to rescuing as many animals as we are able to -- every animal who has ever lived with us has been rescued. He is a four-year-old Long-Haired Chihuahua/Mini Dachshund mix with a sweet temperment and even sweeter face.

This is a wonderful picture that my husband snapped before he left for work one Saturday, as me and this sweetie were sleeping in:

<title>Phoenix Pagan Pride Day: The Recap</title>
			<link>http://city-witch.com/content/view/29/</link>
			<description>
I had the profound pleasure of attending my very first Pagan Pride Day here in Phoenix Sunday, October 7, 2007 -- and may I just say WAY TO GO, Phoenix Pagans!!!

We had fabulous weather Sunday, and the PPD witnessed a great turnout. This was my first time really experiencing the pagan community here, and it exceeded my every expecctation. I have never been a part of a more diverse, open and welcoming pagan community. I even had the please of meeting one of my podcast listeners! How cool is that?!?!?

Phoenix has truly the best Pagan community -- there were people of all sizes, colors, ages, paths and there was no drama, no weirdness, just good vibes and good times. I can't wait until next year!

A couple of great pics here:

			<title>October Is...</title>
			<link>http://city-witch.com/content/view/27/</link>
			<description>
October ushers in some pretty big doings in the pagan community. Of course there is the most sacred of sabbats -- Samhain, and this is also the time of year when many people prepare for the Yule/Winter Solstice season as well.

But for us witches of the female persuasion, it also brings the thoughts of health and well being, because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (http://www.nbcam.com/).

In 2007, wew cases of breast cancer in the United states are estimated to be
178,480 (female); 2,030 (male). Of these an estimated 40,460 (female)
and 450 (male) will die from the disease. (National Cancer Institute
figures).

With these frightening statistics, I would urge all ladies (and men as well) to be vigilant with monthly self-breast examinations, and to tell your doctor immediately if you notice anything out of the ordinary.

From the National Breast cancer Awareness website:

One of the earliest signs of breast cancer can be an abnormality that
shows up on a mammogram before it can be felt. The most common signs of
breast cancer are a lump in the breast; abnormal thickening of the
breast; or a change in the shape or color of the breast. Finding a lump
or change in your breast does not necessarily mean you have breast
cancer. Additional changes that may also be signs of breast cancer
include:

Any new, hard lump or thickening in any part of the breast
Change in breast size or shape
Dimpling or puckering of the skin
Swelling, redness or warmth that does not go away
Pain in one spot that does not vary with your monthly cycle
	Pulling in of the nipple
Nipple discharge that starts suddenly and appears only in one breast
An itchy, sore or scaling area on one nipple

Mammography screening remains the best available method to detect
breast cancer early. However, no medical test is always 100 percent
accurate, and mammography is no exception. Research is under way to
improve the technology to lead to better accuracy and to create new
technologies.

In 1992, the U.S. Congress passed the Mammography Quality Standards Act
to ensure that mammography facilities throughout the country are of
high quality and are reliable. To lawfully perform mammography, each
facility must prominently display a certificate issued by the U.S. Food
and Drug Administration (FDA). This certificate serves as evidence that
the facility meets quality standards.

It is important for women to practice the elements of good breast health. It is suggested women:

Obtain regular mammography screening starting at the age of 40
	Obtain annual clinical breast exams
	Perform monthly breast-self exams
Obtain a risk assessment from a physician

Even though I am a couple of years shy of 40 yet, I am still making an appointment for a mammogram this year...and I urge everyone else to do the same.

Many thanks to the SexyWitchBlog (http://sexy-witch.blogspot.com/2007/05/jfurys-witches-2004-2005.html) for featuring the wonderful art of JFury @ deviantART (http://jfury.deviantart.com/) (who created the sexy witch image above).

Be well everyone and blessings bright!

<title>By The Light Of The Moon...</title>
			<link>http://city-witch.com/content/view/24/</link>
			<description>
Tonight, we will be blessed by the appearance of the beautiful Harvest Moon and wirth it comes opportunity to celebrate the Esbat. Blessed Be!

I really have so much to be thankful for and so much to still ahead of me that will require all my strength to complete and suceed.

Coming back from a forced silence of six months is joyous! I have so much bottled up inside me that I have not had an outlet for -- no place to share dreams, spellwork, opinions, rants, rituals, information...no place to share the witch within.

I have really missed the opportunity to podcast...seriously. The pagan community never stays quiet for long and there have been so many things I have wanted to speak about, comment on, and sound off about. am thankful I will now have the chance to continue to do so. You can hear my past podcasts by clicking the link in the main menu to the left of the page, and I will be creating a new show this weekend.

I will also continue my work with creating my tradition, The Path of the Wise Ones, and am also working again on creating a school. I think before I was afraid -- afraid of putting myself out there, of any possible success, of trying to be all things to all people, and superwitch to myself.

Luckily, we live and learn, and what matters most is, at the end of the day, you are giving back. The pagan community has given so much to me over these almost 22 years, and no matter what anyone says, I am going to give back in MY way.

Blessed be y'all and Blessed Harvest moon to everyone!
